The Voice: Speaking up on Animal Issues

The Gift of Life

There are many ways to promote the gift of life for animals. We adopt. We donate. Some people and shelters truly rescue to save and heal an animal. Here at Creative Acres we truly rescue. We donate our time and product for those in need. We also take an additional big step; we educate. Not just on general facts, but also on the hard subjects. If you have read my articles, heard or seen me on radio or television, visited our website, you’ll understand the hard subjects. I also am in discussions with authorities on consumer fraud and mistreatment of animals in animal organizations.

Here are some of the changes education and actions brings.

*Cat Care Society, who represents themselves as no-kill; admitted in a newsletter, they were a kill shelter. In fact, they’ve killed numerous cats each year.
*The Colorado Humane Society heads, Mary and Bob Warren, were exposed on television for their mistreatment of animals and misuse of funds.
*Table Mountain Animal Shelter was exposed on television for the suffering and dying of animals in their care. When asking for donations; they were publicly condemned for asking for such donations, for a situation that they created- Neglect.

More people need to be investigated! Ones currently in their positions and even those who have left. Such as Jan McHugh from Boulder Valley Humane Society who relocated out of state, and the Maxfund’s founders, Bill & Nanci Suro, who have stepped down. Did these people leave because things are getting exposed?

Another change: Dumb Friends League uses the words “care for” in referring to animals taken in. In a recent press release they used the word, “receive” instead.

This is important because: to use the word “care” would indicate just that, but they don’t care. They kill almost 30% of the animals they receive. I don’t think that those 30% would think they were being “cared for.”

Did you know:
*Maxfund who represents themselves as a no-kill, recently has it stated in their brochures that they Kill?

*The DFL 2007 annual report states of the animals killed, 27% were killed for serious illnesses. In contradiction, the DFL kills animals for something as simple as upper respiratory treated easily with antibiotics. They will tell you the killing is for repeated upper respiratory, which is a situation caused by their poor maintenance.

*DFL killed 66% for behavior. That includes animals that were fearful. They promote themselves as behavioral experts… with a success rate of only 34%. In addition, they ask for funding for their behavioral programs, which apparently are unsuccessful.

*DFL also states that of the animals killed; they had to kill 7% of small mammals, {bunnies/ferrets} for there is no place for them to go. That’s a lie. Creative Acres offered to take those small animals many years ago. Instead of sending the people with their animals to us, they took those animals and the donations, and then kill the animals.

*DFL represents themselves as the leader in animal welfare, yet they fail to maintain a well-run operation. They lack the compassion and intelligence to notice behavior that could be corrected and heal simple aliments. If they are not doing the simple things to keep animals safe and are not telling the truth, are they ever going to change regardless how much money is donated?

What’s scary is that these are the organizations the media puts on air to advise you.

Some of this year’s upcoming issues: There will be more stats on shelters. The State and which shelters they are partial too. Animal cruelty laws involving animal organizations; {are district attorneys doing their jobs}? How the media hides the truth. Wild and exotic so-called sanctuaries exploiting animals for gain. We will have topics on diets, health, behavior, general care, also on how to adopt your own animals or how to keep your animals. Some information is on our website {creativeacres.org} under The Voice.

This information is given to make better conditions for the animals. A lot of the changes that have happened for the better have happened because of our persistent demand for truth and better care for animals at many shelters and we hope to do more. Ask questions: If you do not know what to ask or what to do you can always contact us… 303-659-4792.

We would like to thank the owner {Samantha} for her courage and passion for animals and for making this information available through this paper.

Every time you read these articles, become aware and do something. You’re giving the best present…the Gift Of Life.
