Think About Us
So many people write things and have no idea on what they are saying. Like if you buy a book on animals; that does not mean that person has knowledge on the subject. It may mean they just had enough funding to publish it. People most of the time believe what the read and see on TV.
FACT: Newspapers or TV rarely check out the experts or stories, even ones that they have on as experts. Some so-called experts they have are time paid spots. Some organizations will press release on what they want you to hear. Unfortunately most of the media, does not check out people and subjects. This is due to lack of education of not knowing what to look for and plain laziness.
WE are going to change that. Read on…
Opinions are great, it makes you think, but are the opinions factual or does it just sound good.
Fact: Did you know that to become a licensed trainer all you do is send in a fee to the state, no education required. To become a behaviorist you can pull a certificate online or go to a school with little or no interaction with animals.
Why am I so hard on these so-called professionals? Animals are dying needlessly because of trainers and behaviorists that go out to the public, solicit themselves as experts. These so-called professionals see the animal, the animal does not listen for they have not been trained correctly, so the owners now take them to a shelter to have an incompetent shelter evaluator decide whether to kill the animal. Because the shelter evaluator does not know how to correctly understand behavior; that you cannot evaluate all animals in those conditions in a short amount of time, as short as one hour, this animal is put to death. The shelter motivation is to adopt quickly, no time is consider for the misunderstood. {More details in upcoming issues}.
These people with not-deserving titles, whether it’s a trainer, behaviorist, shelter administer, are such good politicians that you believe what is said. You probably don’t even know that better can be done. That stops now, for in these columns you will learn to know what to expect from your leaders and experts in the animal world. The animal business is a billion-dollar business one of which takes advantage and exploits animals.
First lesson: Don’t give up on your animals. There is always a way to figure out a positive outcome. Ask questions and educate yourself.
We will highlight on a different animal organization and issues each month.
The big question, so why me?
I am Maxine. I run the only Quality of Life, No Kill Free Roam Animal Sanctuary in Colorado called Creative Acres. We have been operating since 1998.We are a 501c3 non-profit. We are known locally and nationally. We currently have over 300 animals of about 25 different species, ranging from dogs, cats horses, ferrets, etc. What makes us noted nationally as a one of kind animal welfare organization is the housing of the many animals of different species. As well as, the services we provide not just for animals but for humans. The way we operated our sanctuary; our philosophy, also how we never give up. The way we educate the public. Our budget and how one person operates the sanctuary.
As the founder and operator of Creative Acres since 1998 in the Denver Metro area, I am the only person in the state of Colorado with over 150,000 hours of hands on animal studies with hundreds of thousands of animals. I have many titles, operator of this sanctuary/shelter, trainer behaviorist, evaluator, investigator, and animal rights activist. From being involved in these areas, all of which has been hands on, has giving me an overall experience to evaluate situations efficiently. I get to see animals and people in many situations.
I can prove my position with my result in what I have done for over two decades. You can view it yourself at the Sanctuary. Creative Acres has set an example for those to follow to make a more beautiful world for the animals.
Happy Holidays
